Let’s get one thing straight: we are not your average BDSM or sex toy retailer. UberKinky began life with a serious uphill climb in a male-dominated industry after being founded by Stephanie Taylor in 1979. What started in a living room, turned makeshift office and hustle HQ, quickly became a labour of love (and kink). A small mail order business transformed into the UK’s go-to destination for all things kink. And yes, size does matter… so trust us when we say our collection is massive and is always growing.
Back in 1988, during the height of the AIDS crisis, UberKinky focused its efforts on one of the most vital tools for safer sex: condoms. By placing ads in Sunday newspapers, demand quickly took off. From there, things escalated, in the best possible way. Vibrators were next, flying off the shelves thanks to illustrated flyers that got pulses racing. Then came cock rings, cock pumps, and all sorts of pre-Viagra pleasure tools; which were, back then, often sold to sex therapists. Quality and customer care spoke for themselves, and word began to spread about UberKinky. The first catalogue landed in 1994 (complete with DIY photography) and although it might not have been glossy… it got the job done and set the tone for what was to come.
Fast forward to 1998 and the website went live, swapping out paper catalogues for digital realness. Orders boomed, the team grew, and by 2008 they’d moved into a proper custom-built warehouse in Beverley, East Yorkshire. Online shopping kicked off in a big way and by 2010, demand had outgrown the space again. By 2017, UberKinky had expanded again, landing in their current home on Foster Street, with over 30 experienced, dedicated kink-lovers making sure every order, question, and product recommendation is handled with care.
